Where do I park my vehicle while I’m playing on the Rainbow River?
You have two options for parking:

  1. Guaranteed Parking: Pay $20 per vehicle for guaranteed parking located a little over a mile from the KP Hole Park located at the Rainbow River Country Club (look for the big tent) at 19330 SW 83rd Place Road, Dunnellon, FL 34432. This includes a drop-off and pick-up shuttle service that takes you directly to the KP Hole Park, providing access to the Rainbow River.
  2. KP Hole Parking: Take your chances and pay nothing to park at the KP Hole. IMPORTANT: Parking at the KP Hole is extremely limited during peak season (April 1st to September 30th). The KP Hole address is 9435 SW 190th Avenue Rd, Dunnellon, FL 34432. Upon arrival, there’s a $7 fee to access the water and utilize the amenities of the KP Hole. The KP Hole closes at 8 pm from April 1st to September 30th and at 5 pm from October 1st to March 31st. Do not be late returning to get your vehicle if it’s inside the gate at the KP Hole, as they will lock it inside. Use the Text to Transport system by texting 352-895-7990 when you’re back at the KP Hole, and they will be right there. If there’s no reply within 1 minute, please call.

Where do I meet my River Rat Attendant when I arrive at the KP Hole?
Go to the “Palm Tree that has Sunglasses all over it.” One day, somebody put their sunglasses on the palm tree, and then others did the same.

What does the vehicle look like that will be delivering my equipment or shuttling me?
Look for a white Dodge Ram truck, normally carrying a trailer, a white Dodge Durango or a tan Kia Sedona. All vehicles have “Blue Run Cart Master & River Rat Rentals” decals on it.

I’m overwhelmed. What is the best way to enjoy the Rainbow River?
The short answer is, stay upstream! Get in at the KP Hole and go upriver, not down. The majority of the pictures you see online are from the upper part of the river. Once you get in at the KP Hole, after about a 20-minute paddle, you’ll see on the right-hand side the clearest part of the river that is hip to waist deep. The elders call it “Indian Creek,” the newbies call it “Gissy Spring,” and we call it the “Lazy River of the Rainbow River.” It is a must-see! After exploring the “Lazy River,” you’ll see much more as the aqua blue water gets more blue. Grab your GoPro or camera and take pictures of the wildlife all around you as you continue to paddle about 40 minutes to the head of the river. As a 44-year resident of Dunnellon, I still gasp for air and point my finger when I see a family of turtles, otters, beautiful birds, and large bass beneath me. The scenery of groomed homes, jumping trees, and homemade rope swings brings a sense of peace, family, and comfort. All this before you reach the head of the Rainbow River, which is a huge, beautiful 25-foot blue lagoon. After taking in the beauty, you’ll simply glide back to the KP Hole. I recommend packing a lunch. Having a picnic under a big oak tree, relaxing in the shade with the perfect view makes for the perfect day.

If I want to kayak downriver, how do I get back, and are there extra fees?
If you get off at Blue Run Park of Dunnellon, you will pay the KP Hole directly at the service counter when you pay the entry fee to pick you and your rental up and return you back to the KP Hole Park. The KP Hole charges $20.00 for a single kayak and $25.00 for a double, triple, canoe, and SUP. If you get off at the City Boat Ramp in Dunnellon, you will pay us at checkout to pick you and your rental up and return you back to your parked vehicle. We charge $10.00 per person and $10.00 per vessel.

Can you pick me up from my house and take me to the river?
Yes, we can! It’s called “Text to Transport.” Click on the service tab in the menu.

When I am done on the river, how do I get back to my vehicle?

Can I bring my pet?
Pets are allowed on the Rainbow River but they are not allowed inside of the KP Hole Park which can cause confusion.  The easiest way to handle this is for one person to walk their pet down to the KP Hole public boat ramp.  (This is not considered inside of the park) Have a separate person go inside of the park and pay for the $7 per person entry fee to obtain the wristbands to get into the water.  Now this wouldn’t work if it was only you and your pet.  If this is the case your only option would be to leave your pet in your vehicle with the windows rolled down, go inside and pay the $7 entry fee and obtain your wristband, go back and get your pet then walk down to the boat ramp to enter the water.  Sorry for the work around, it’s not our rules.
